Our ASAMCommander is a universal test data management application based on the ASAM ODS standard (Detail ). As a modular web application, it comprises loosely coupled, functional units called modules that form a customizable experience for end-users, system and data administrators, or data analysts.
In its Basic Edition, ASAMCommander is an application for engineers and end-users interested in exploring measured data. It is a best-in-class and out-of-the-box application that provides all basic end-user use cases. The features range from flexible data navigation, multiple search options, and data visualizations to integrated tooling such as AVL Concerto, Mathworks Matlab, and NI DIAdem and data exports in the formats of ASAM ATFx, CSV, and ASAM MDF.
The application works with any data model including the AVL Santorin model and Eclipse openMDM application models. The basic edition comes with the modules Navigator, Search, and Bookmarks.
The Enterprise Edition of ASAMCommander is suited for Global Test Data Management solutions.
The Basic Edition of ASAMCommander is an out-of-the-box application that provides all end-user use cases for data exploration (navigation, search, visualization), expert tool integration (e.g., AVL Concerto, Mathworks Matlab, NI DIAdem), and data exports (ASAM ATFx, CSV, ASAM MDF). The software can be installed only on any ASAM ODS Server, providing instant access to end-users.
Our ASAMCommander is also suited for Global Test Data Management systems. It has additional features and modules to provide system and data administration features such as system logging, data lineage, and data retention policies. Separate modules provide importer lane and analysis job monitoring. The backend is scaled accordingly with our AReS Gateway, the entry point to an ASAM ODS server cluster.
Looking for something different? The web application's modularity allows various customizations for views, features, or workflows—alternatively, we simply add your application module. Our ASAMCommander mainframe will still provide comfort functions, security, and easy data access via the integrated HQL.
The ASAMCommander Navigator allows flexible data exploration for all ASAM ODS Systems. This includes multiple browsing and filtering options and various views on the data. Data trees are easily configured to fit the way engineers work. The Navigator contains all the features to identify data sets of interest and investigate further quickly. The measurement level contains multiple features to access all information, including generating graphs easily. For further processing, inspected data sets can be forwarded to integrated expert analysis tools, processed by integrated job pipelines, and exported in various formats.
The Search Module of ASAMCommander is a universal tool for finding data sets in the Test Data Management system. It is based on the HighQSoft Query Language (HQL) and offers very flexible search features. All provided search features work on any model. Additional requirements can easily be added for every type of user, providing a way to find data quickly and according to individual preferences.
Finding single datasets is one thing; remembering the important ones is another. The ASAMCommander bookmarks modules help gather data or keep it in sight for the future. Bookmarks can be defined from all other relevant modules and be managed in multiple lists. Once collected, the features of data exports and processing with Merlin/SAM analysis jobs can be executed as combined actions. The Bookmarks module includes a list of manually executed analysis jobs.
In ASAM ODS, standard catalogs are consolidated lists of utilized physical dimensions, units, quantities, and corresponding groups. The Catalog Editor allows data administrators to edit instances and their relationships comfortably. In the Enterprise version of ASAMCommander, the Catalog Editor offers Import and Export Mappings. Original channel names and units are kept and mapped to the standard catalog and can be transformed into the customer namespace, if needed.
The mainframe represents the web application frame with global features such as login, ASAM ODS project availabilities, authentication with LDAP or OIDC, and similar features. It acts as the home for all provided modules, including their internationalization and corporate identity. Internal API functions such as data exports, HQL, and other comfort functions are also provided by the mainframe.
Everything sounds good, but something is missing. Please contact us for additional possibilities for adding new modules or features.

The ASAMCommander Navigator is probably the most versatile ASAM ODS data browser. It supports all models by allowing custom tress, virtual node representation, and tree search. In the Enterprise edition, multiple trees for multiple stakeholders, including tree filtering, are available.
The data navigation allows a quick search for users that know the name or code of their measured data. This allows a quick jump right to the data the user is looking for.
The ASAMCommander Navigator has a built-in data editor for editing single data sets and correcting data (security restrictions apply) for Enterprise Edition users.
Measured data may include attached documents, such as images or reports, that can be added to a data set. With the document manager, these files can be viewed, downloaded, deleted, or described as information to be edited.
Since our ASAMCommander is a management tool and engineers intend to continue to work with their preferred toolchain, we integrate Mathwork’s Matlab, National Instruments' DIAdem, and AVLs Concerto into the application. All tools can be started with one click (separate tool licenses are required).
Data insights are better when shared. The ASAMCommander application allows you to copy the ASAM Path for other applications and has an internal sharing platform that allows you to send application links within the application or via email.
The global search is an out-of-the-box “Google-like” search that enables quick results based on the name, an identifier, or other inputs. The features are fully integrated and can be streamlined to specific use cases. For large enterprise projects, the feature can be migrated to an indexer-based faceted search.
Advanced search is a user interface-guided approach to building requests for the ASAM ODS database. All data sets can be investigated by type and information available. The system provides data operators. This search targets less experienced end-users who do not favor using the query builder.
The ASAMCommander Search module offers a fully integrated HQL search supported by a friendly user interface. Knowledgeable end-users can freely define, save, and load individual queries for targeted analysis or data set identification.
You can save and manage your personal bookmarks temporarily or persistently. Bookmark lists can be created and deleted, and corresponding filters and search options quickly find items.
Individually executed analysis or reporting jobs will be stored in a separate list in Bookmarks. Any results, be it in calculated values, images, or documents, can be verified individually.
Bookmarks can be flexibly arranged and grouped for a joint toolbar action. This way, analysis and exports jobs can be executed in bulk.

Internal API functions such as data exports, HQL, and other comfort functions are also provided by the mainframe.
ASAMCommander provides a standard export for ASAM ATFx, CSV, and ASAM MDF4 files. These file types are typically used for single measurement exports and data sharing with a customer. In ASAMCommander, we provide flexible data export on multiple data structure levels. ASAM ATFx is an excellent way to share data with the customer. It is usually used in a mixed mode where the ATFx file contains just the metadata and is accompanied by binary files. The CSV format is versatile and often used for data processing or raw data delivery. Another standardized format is ASAM MDF4, which is often used for data recordings and thus is a typical import format that is also required by tools. All exported files are generated from the server and can be customized.
Most importers can select which information and channels should be included. Customizing exports allows a restricted view of information for a customer or third party and minimizes the file size by limiting the number of exported data to the necessary scope. Selections made can be stored in configurations and reused within the project.
ASAM ODS standardizes all datasets using internal catalogs for units, physical dimensions, quantities, and channel names. Depending on the project or country, data exports may need to be mapped to a different namespace, so we include mappings. Catalogs and Mappings can be managed with the Catalog Editor (Enterprise Edition).
We implemented export configuration management to keep track of various export configurations and ensure that we always share the same format with other stakeholders. This allows users to save, load, and edit export configurations.
Exporting files may support analysis tools that are not native ASAM ODS clients. With the ASAM ATFx, ASAM MDF, and CSV options and their customization given, most tools should be able to interact with data from our systems.
Service providers producing data must often meet customer specifications for delivery. In our case, this includes the data format and, for example, channel naming. The ASAMCommander standard exporters fulfill these requirements in various ways.
Does your company or use case require a different export format or an adapted export process? We're flexible, so ask us how to make it work. New formats or combined ZIP files with a combination of files can be integrated. Also, we are happy to incorporate your data export routine (see Merlin/SAM).
